Question

PIAA driving lights only come on when FULL beam is selected and front fog light switch is activated.. I think this is the way it's meant to work but don't like it, want to be able to switch them on when sidelights are on..has anyone changed this or any ideas...

It is an offence under the Construction and Use regs to do this - they will dazzle other road users as they have no beam cutoff like headlamp dip has....I believe they also fall foul of the regs from a height point of view (headlamps have to be a minimum height - about 21" IIRC) if used like this..

As Dave says, tis illegal matey. However, one could I guess, wire up the PIAA's to the front foglight switch (if the RB5 has one). On the blackbeast the fogs and sidlights come on without the headlights when I press the foglight switch, therefore if wired correctly you could have the PIAA's on when you hit the foggy switch. Of course I could not possibly condone such behaviour

Question

But surely if it's dark enough for the PIAA's then it's dark enough for the headlights on full beam anyway?????

Matt.

Cool

If you really want to drive around and blind everyone, why not just drive around on full beam!!!!!

Dom can't drive at night. Under the probation act of 1984 his cut off for going in is 16.00, maybe when the winter draws in and the strawberry fields dissapear he might be able to use his lights.

He also has a rather daft Mullet, similar to Pat Sharp in 1990.

Thumbs down

Dom,

It is possible, but they're far too bright to use with sidelights during the day. Anyway, it's an offense and it'll cost you a fixed penalty fine if your stopped by plod.

There meant to come on with full beam for obvious reasons - you need as much light as possible.

Ever tried standing in front of your car with them on ? Now imagine driving towards your car - if your happy with blinding other drivers on you go.

You could always stick in some 5w candle bulbs , but I don't see the point myself.

Matt ?!?!

Unhappy

Dom
If you were to dazzle someone and cause an accident you WOULD get prosecuted - it's really not a good idea

there should be behind the o/s/f head light a connector in to the back of the bulb off this connector there are 2 wires 1 will be the trigger off the main beam wire which should be connected to another wire and the second i think comes off the side light bulb jst disconnect the first wire and reconnect to the second

hope this works sorry i cant remember any colours

You'll probably find that the bulbs will burn out in no time anyway (not cheap) if used a lot.

I beleive this is the reason that they are wired into the switch in the first place - so that they can be deactivated for flashing during the day (oo-er missus!)
