Changing sidelight bulb?
Probably a stupid question?
Checking my manual, to change a sidelight bulb, I undo the screw & pull out the sidelight unit. Hmmm.
Unfortunately, the unit wriggles a little, but doesn't want to come out.
Any hints & tips please?

Try some WD40 on the screw 'thingie' and local area, the rubber may have 'welded' itself to the fitting.
Be careful with the fitting. The plastic and rubber may be more brittle in the cold weather.

I don't think that the rubber seal is stuck (it's a 99my car). Do you know how it is held in at the bulb end? Is it a connector that I'm pulling out or will I be pulling out the unit with wires attached?

NICK ,i had this problem recently, theres a push in male/female type fitting, holding the unit in place,i know it sounds a bit rough,i put the palm of my hand on the unit quite firm and pushed forward,it worked for me,
Nick,
I've just had both of mine off at the weekend to install blue bulbs. let's say your doing the nearside light first, remove the screw and kneeling in front of the light. Place your right palm along the side of the light and try and get your fingertips in where the unit & rubber meet the wing. Your left hand wants to be on the front left side of the light, then you need to pull the unit toward you keeping it level. "Do not twist or turn".
As mentioned previously there is a "Plastic Stud" that's keeping the light in place as well as the screw. You can see this by shining a torch down the gap created when you remove the screw and you should be able to see it. See how you get on, I'll try and find a pic for you.

Thanks Neil
I got it done from your info. I couldn't get my fingers behind - but I got some extra tugging power from the palm of my hand pressing along the side of the sidelight. The off-side was certainly stiffer than the nearside to get off.
For info: The bulbs sold in Halford (Bosh) are NOT silvered on the top. The Scooby bulbs ARE silvered. This means that you need to change both bulbs. Thanks a lot Halfords!

Just popped into Halfords to get some Xenon blue sidelight bulbs to match my main beam ones that are pretty good... they're out of stock at the moment due to a recall, but they will have them back shortly... I'm going to fit these ASAP, so will let you all know what they're like - my sidelights look very yellow at the moment compared to the main lights.

Simon,
A word of advice, when you do get the bulbs open the package with care incase you may want to take them back. I replaced my sidelight & headlight bulbs with matching Philips Blue Vision bulbs. The headlights are fine but the side lights still seem to have that yellow tint to them. Maybe it's the lenses on them, let me know how you get on with yours, if they're nice & blue I'm gonna change my for the same type. Failing that, package them back up again nice and neat as if they haven't been opened and get a refund.

Hi Neil,
Thanks for the advice, I fitted them and they're not anywhere near as blue/white as the main beam ones. I reckon you're right and the lenses change the light somehow. They cost £3.99 by the way although they may be getting better ones in Halfords as the Southampton branch didn't have any and said they'd been recalled, whereas the Hedge End branch had a set... may ve worth double checking with Halfords if they've been recalled for not being blue/white enough????
But, I'll keep them on the car as I need a full set of spare bulbs for possibly going to Le Mans later in the year - my neighbour's son is driving the MG so I'm going to do my utmost to get along. Luckily I have an Impreza wagon, so will try to get some kip in the boot :-)
Thanks,
Simon.
