My headlamp glass broke over the hols, just contacted Osborn dealers in Colchester and being quoted 229 quid! They say that the whole unit has to be replaced, not just the glass.

Does anyone know whether there are any alternatives ?

Thanks,
Martin.

Martin,

Have a look back through the "wanted" and "private" sections for any adverts by Grade-A-Subaru who claim to be decent breakers for our little babies.

Make sure you get some headlamp protectors for your new ones! About £30 from your dealer, although I think they make the already crap headlights even worse...

I have the headlamp protectors

IMHO
they do not make the cr@p lamps any worse. do remove 'em and clean the lamps and protectors however!

However changing the headlamp bulbs to 80/100w has made them a lot better - illegal but better!

Martin,
I have a drivers side headlight for a MY97 if your interested. Same happened to me and I ended up buying a secondhand pair for £100, so I want £50. I now have the protectors (£32) and some standard wattage xenon bulbs (£14 from Andy Batters - SIDC link)which improve things a bit.

Thanks for the suggestions - decided to go for a 4 lamp conversion in the end - should help me get home faster in these dark evenings too !
