I am taking a risk to ask what has already been asked many times, but after a search I would still like to know the following:

1) Is it true that STi models (5 in my case) have a stronger wiring looms for headlights?
2)If so, is it safe to install the PIAA H4 Super-White bulbs 80/80W instead of the standard ones?
3) At £110 for a pair I would love to have 40% more visibility and white light ahead of me, but only if the lenses and cabling will withstand.
4) I have studied the range of PIAA bulbs available and, quite frankly, the Super-White ones are the only I would be interested in (no blue or xenon).

How much !!!!!!!!

Got mine for about £72 inc p&p from Demon Tweeks ( but grahame Goode do the same. ) had them fitted in a xr2i ( I know sad...) for 9 months no problem fitted em to a 99 sport last week and no problems...you have to check the voltage drop across the wires to earth and live to make sure but they don't put too much xtra strain on the wiring loom.

They are worth the dosh though....amazing power, pure white light almost fluorecent in nature...worth the £70 odd......but £100 ?

Thanks for your quick response. Unless the 1999 Demon Tweeks catalogue is incorrect, there is still (I am afraid) no such thing as a free lunch in this world. There is 3 different models within the Super White PIAA range of bulbs. One I had in mind is a H4 (BC2) model and costs per piece £47.81+VAT+shipping.
I have a funny feeling that you were referring to the HILO range of bulbs where there is a H4 (BS2) model costing £29.48+VAT+shipping and are also drawing 80W and giving light as if they were 135/115. Electrically it is the same as those I mentioned, but I think we have to establish the misconception about the price.

Once again, thanks for your help. I think measuring things once bulbs have been installed is one of the safest ways not to suffer damage.

I'm gonna be sad here.
What happens in the case of an accident an Mr Insurance Co had a look at the car. If they sussed the bulbs would it still be covered?
I read somewhere that it wouldn't.
That's making me wonder whether it's worth going for them.

Sorry for the delay in getting back, I've got the PIAA Plasma Blue 80/80 just checked my original bill and it was £72 for the pair, not too sure why they are called blue as the produce pure white light !

My understanding is that it is only the Type R's that have the better wiring I have the original bulbs that I took out of my car which are 80/100.
