hard wiring origin b2
just purchased an origin b2 and instead of using the cigarette lighter i wanted to hard wire it so that when i turn on the igition the origin b2 comes on also. the basic installation looks straight forward enough, could anyone please give me advice on what wires go where for hard wiring the unit in place.
many thanks

hard wiring origin b2
I have just bought one myself. I will be doing a stealth install, most likely tomorrow (work permitting). I will post the relevant info once installed

I have the origin b2 and excellent kit.
I didn't install it myself but make sure when installing it the gps ariel is as far away from the cradle and unit as possible..
the dealer who installed mine had to ring b2,because mine kept failing to get a sat. lock.
This little bit of information isn't in the instructions. keep it in mind
other than this it's very good..

I hard wired B2 by taking power from relay block as follows.
Remove panel below steering wheel, to expose relays and fuse block. Third relay socket up from bottom has five connections two on left three on right, top righthand connection is switched ignition feed.
Pemove fuse block and relay block fixings, ease both forward (towards you). I soldered a new wire at the rear of the relay block and sealed with adhesive lined shrink tube. You may want to disconnect the battery before moving the fuse and relay blocks (just incase).

Paul,
Does the B2 sit on top of the dash and how did you get the wires up to it? Under the dash or up by the a-pillar?
I'm trying to do a similar thing with my road angel and ipaq leads on an '02 but am having fun finding where to get the wiring up to dash level on the inside...

tap into to cigarette lighter plug.
two wires.
join them up the right way round and hey presto.
worth keeping an in line fuse there though.
All other wires are installed as they would otherwise be, just run them neatly and hide them out the way.
I have two car kits and swap the units between them. both are hard wired. very neat.
the b2 i the impreza classic sits in the tray above the heater (facelift) and can still be heard with the door closed.
very neat and stealth.

Origin sits just in front of gearlever. Wiring fed through bottom left of ashtray slot.
Cigarette lighter is switched acc feed, I used switched ign feed as I wanted to used same supply (via separate fuses) for knocklink and Defi's. I can now listen to stereo whilst parked up without the constant warning tone for low oil pressure.
You can feed the wiring along the steel brace behind the dash. remove glovebox, then feed wiring up to a-pillar. It may well be easier to do it top to bottom, this is how I wired the laser detector.

Thanks for that Paul but I suspect I won't have enough wire on the existing connectors to reach that far
The Ipaq has a moulded cig lighter connector but there's a circuit inside this so I can't just extend this cable. I might be able to extend the road angel ones as the data cable is a 9-pin serial at one end with only 2 wires connected and a mini-din at the other and the power lead is just 2-core standard stuff, I think...
I'll have a look at going up by the a-pillar and then I'll have to run the wires along the base of the screen but possibly in view
