Might seem an odd question but do headlight covers just clip on and off?

I need to clean in between as its got quite dirty but don't want to force the cover and break it.

Do you mean the headlight protectors? Mine (MY98) just clip off, working from the bottom and pivotting upwards (with the bonnet open).

Mine are the same lift up and out at the bottom and pull out at an angle with the bonnet up!
