H2 bulb upgrade
#1
The "Morettes" in my 98 wagon are cibie units the bulb configuration is as follows
Outer (5") H4 bulb P43t base standard 60/55W max 160/100W
Inner (3.25") T3 bulb X511 base standard 55W max 130W
Fogs H3 bulb PK22 base standard 55W max 160W
Bear in mind the wire gauge , relay , switch and fuse ratings if you upgrade the wattage. Also the inners on the morettes are so small they cannot dissipate heat efficiently. The T3 is a capless type bulb which clips into the holder the holder if overheated will melt and disform. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ! You may get more perceived light by upgrading the wattage slightly and changeing to a slightly hotter colour temperature which will give you a brighter white. If you go too high with the temperature the light starts to appear blue and loses its perceptiveness
I am running 140/100 H4 with 100W T3 @4400k in the morettes and have had no problems personally.
Next mod is to upgrade the fogs to HID drive lamps
Steve
p.s. AL found the info that you was referring to , not as star wars as I thought but you were right only its the opposite way round as in more molecular activity at a hotter temp
clicky
edited to say 44000k lamps were a little excessive

I've not been able to find one yet.
Try www.autolamps-online.com
BTW: as it's an H2, be VERY careful. The H2 bulbholder is notorious for getting overheated, then losing it's springyness with high power bulbs, and once this happens, you're well on the way to massively reduced bulb-life due to arcing at the connector.:

The H2 was the result of the French Lighting industry refusing to accept the new H1 developed in Germany (1963). It is primarily used today only in French lamps and in particular Valeo. In the past it has been used in many famous auxilary lamps, the best being the Cibie Oscar Plus. However it is intrinsically a very poor lamp with a very short life, especially in 100w version. They used to be made in quantity at the Philips factory in Chartres in France but due to now very small demand they are no longer made. If you do manage to track a non standard (55w) product down it will for sure be made in Taiwan or Korea. Due to this small demand no worthwhile manufacturer has bothered to develop a special. Your only real chance will be Japan as Cibie had a large off shoot called the SS company in Japan and they may be able to help, but dont hold your breath and it will cost a fortune.
