I need to re-fit the adjuster to my headlamps, as the O/S does not move up/down when adjusted, where the n/s does.
I understand that the headlamp must be removed and the lens removed...
How does the lens come off ? Do the clips just 'unclip' ?

sorry matey, forgot to mention the year (DUH!) (98my UK T)
Anyhow, I was hoping for a reply from your good self, as the rest of the instructions I have printed out from about a year ago are yours !!
I'll take the lamp out and bring it inside then - the clips should should pop off eh ?
Thanks,
Mark

Err - no luck . the lamps are 'glued' with gunk to the rear section.
However, maybe I don't need to open them . I can see a white plastic slider inside, which appears to control the level. So I guessed that the adjuster isn't fitting into this correctly.
BUT, on re-assembly, they still don't work - so I'll have to get them off again !

Mark....DON'T split the headlamp!! The adjuster is a ball and socket arrangement and all you need to do is remove the lamp from the car, fiddle around until you have the ball lined with the socket and press gently until they click together. Job done I managed to separate mine (also MY98) while mucking around with the adjuster (don't ask..) and that's all I did to refit it.

Cheers, only prob is that the adjuster only pushes in so far, until the unit is up against the back of the lamp - I think I need to remove the bulb and (using the hole it leaves) push the reflector lens down, to let the adjuster 'click' into place, as you suggest...
Thanks

If the socket is still sat in place in the reflector, the easiest way to get it back in is to unscrew the adjuster rod all the way out of the leveller mechanism, push it back into the socket, then screw the leveller back onto it.
If, however, the plastic socket has fallen out of the recess in the reflector and is loose inside the headlamp, splitting is the only practical option. As has already been said, if you heat the lamp unit, the sealant holding it together will soften making lens removal much easier.
Stick it in the oven at 40C for an hour and it'll be a piece of pee, if somewhat messy, to disassemble.
