Question

The room/clock fuse in the fuse box under the bonnet has blown and every time I replace it the new fuse blows as soon as it touches the contacts. It appears that this is affecting the internal light, radio and central locking.
I have disconnected the central locking unit as this has been suggested as a possible problem and also the Radio but it still blows. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing it to continually blow?

Thanks
Scott

sounds like you have a direct short somewhere that's taking the path of least resistance through that fuse

are there any wires touching together in the path of that fuse that shouldn't, dodgy terminals, bare wires etc?

don't be tempted to put a higher rating fuse in or a piece of tinfoil etc to make sure it doesn't blow again - it's a good way of atarting electrical fires and ending up with a smouldering lump on wheels

Can you measure the current through the resistor terminals but get hold of the correct gear for doing it because if you're momentarily shorting out the battery, it'll be a big current

Disclaimer: don't attempt this wthout the proper gear or knowledge as you might become the charred lump...

does the fuse blow on contact with the ignition off / key out? if it does, it's more likely to be earthing through that fuse and by it blowing, it's saving flattening your battery. If it blows when you turn on the ignition etc it gives you a hint as to which circuit might be doing it (auxiliary, normal running, start etc)

a few ideas for you...
