No, I don't need a smoke - I want to plug in my new Road Angel!
I get nothing when I plug the RA in, and the lighter doesn't get warm when you switch that on either.
According to the fuse diagram it's the same one as the mirrors - and they work fine.
Any ideas - I want to try my new toy out!!!
Cheers

Yes, remove the centre console and confirm that the 2 pin power socket is plugged into the rear of the socket housing..
If it is then use a voltmeter to confirm presence of +12v on one of the these connections on the 2 pin plug.. If no supply then check the fuse in the main fuse box..
If that is ok then check that there is +12v on the centre pin of the socket (looking into the open part where the ligter element goes..
If there is no supply then If I remember rightly there maybe a fusable link built into the rear of the lighter socket housing.. It looks like a piece of wire with black insulation..
Mind U that might be for a Diahatsu vehicle..
Hmmm its worth a try anyway.. But I might be talking B***ocks

Well, I took the stereo out and checked the connection to the back of the lighter.
There are three wires to this connector (one is common) - I get 12V on one wire when the lights are on (and the lighter illuminates), but there is no voltage on the other wire.
I can't seem to trace the wire any further back that this.
I also managed to disconect the CD changer, so I've just spent ages trying to reconnect that as the wires are bowstring tight!!!
I think I'll pop into the local dealer tomorrow since the car is still under warranty.
Any other ideas anyone?
Cheers

I just had my RA hardwired to the back of my *** lighter, and the cable runs round the back of the stereo, and through a small hole in the top mount glovebox. Very stealthy, just open the glovebox, and rest the RA on the lip for viewing speed, still works fine in there as well.
