Would the version 4 fit the old lights cos think the grill is diff to the later versions 5-6?
And also what is the diff with the bonnet and version 4-5-6

You really need to change the lights as well if you want everything to fit - and look - right.
The older lights are a different shape and will cause you trouble fitting the grille, as well as odd shutlines along the top.

STi version 4-5-6 (i.e. MY98, 99 and 00) headlights are the same external shape (98 lights are lenticular lensed, 99/00 are crystal lens with multifaceted reflector), and the 98/99/00 grilles are pretty much the same too.
Thus, you'd have the same fit problems with a "98" grille and older lights as you would with a "99" or "00" one.
As Dyney says, you can trim the grille to make it fit the older lights, but you still have the slightly odd shutlines. It's not a major issue though. Still, if you can get a pair of 99/00 headlights - or maybe a Morette conversion, at a good price, why not complete the look?
