thinking about doing this upgrade when the dark nights come about, but a bit put off kits of this nature, especially when electrics are involed. I know they're advertised as an easy upgrade and you don't have to cut a wire but I'd be interested to hear from total DIY duffers who've done this and any problems they hopefully didn't have.

These were my first upgrade, and the were easy to fit even without instructions. However the kit they supplied me was of extremely poor quality, the holes they had made for the wires looked like a rat had gnawed them, with sharp bits protruding and the rubber grommets consequently not fitting. I couldn't believe the same company everyone rates (although it is for their backbox) had supplied such sh1te, and I did wish I had gone for different (more expensive) ones. However I didn't and after cleaning them up a bit so they fitted and making some new clips for the lens (the ones they supplied were broken) they certainly light the road up well. The relay is probably a bit cheap too as it has stuck on once, but a quick tap sorted that... shame about the other drivers I blinded.
If you do get them I would advise that you get the clear covers, I did, but some toerag nicked em and my lenses both have holes now!!
Driving lights are good though, and you can always refit your fogs if you want.

Agree with the above comments, good lighting but I had the same problem with the holes they drilled into the back of the lamps. It looked like they'd stabbed it with a blunt instument and twisted it around, edge of the hole was jagged and the grommets kept falling out.

Once I re-drilled and fitted new grommets they were okay, well no not really, the bulbs only lasted 2-3 weeks!!!

Good luck, I sold the car just to get rid of them.

any other kist to be recommended?

on a slight detour - the foglights currently on the car seem to point slightly downwards, is this right?

PIAA or an HID set is what I'd go for if I was buying again, but obviously I don't know how easy these are to fit as I bought the stoopid Scoobyspawn ones.

We use a special hole cutting drill for the hole on the back and this should cut a neat circular hole which then fits the grommet correctly. If a normal drill bit is used, the casing steel tears and a jagged hole is formed. I will check these are being made correctly and apologies if anyone has received some that were less than perfect.

The relay we use is a Hella 30amp unit and is the best we have found.

I took my car to ScoobySport and had them fit the lamps. When they work they're fine - but the bulbs keep blowing. I was actually on this site looking for somewhere to buy yet another set because the last set I ordered from ScobbySport at the beginning of June still haven't arrived! So if you get a flash from a one-eyed Scooby - it's me!

I had the ScoobySport driving lamps fitted to a MY99, and the 130w bulbs kept blowing, I changed to 100w bulbs and they lasted over 2 years.
