How/where do i connect the the wires up in order for the light to work?
Been told to conncet one wire to an earth source and the other to the positive of the side light...situated under the steering column??? but which wires which in the choc block etc
I need an idiots guide!
Please help...

In my opinion, the easiest way of doing this is all at the back of the radio. If you take the radio out then you will have bags of room, its then just a matter of earthing the earth (either scotch blocking into the radios earth or earthing it to a bolt somewhere. Mine is earthed to the a pillar through an existing bolt), and then tapping into the illumination wire for the radio. On an my99 this wire is grey. You can work out which is which by using a multimeter and finding which wire goes to 12 volts when the lights are switched on. Plenty of room, no dash to take apart (and they never go back right again, honest!) and the jobs a guddun!
Hope this helps.
