'ello all,

Could someone please tell me what the four wires are for and if they should be wired colour-colour onto the harness or how they should be wired?

the four wires are for live, trigger, trigger, earth. the 2 whites are the triggers and can go either way round, the other 2 must be right. If you buy a universal 4-wire sensor from eg the factors, the colors will be different for the live and earth but there should be a diagram inclosed.

Thanks, was fitted by a dealer but they don't seem to be able to get the CEL to stay off. Was wondering if they just wired it wrong.

At the moment they have it:
Sensor Harness
Grey Black
White, white White
Black Grey

If they have put earth to live what would the symptoms be? 0 reading? Fried sensor?

if its wired the wrong way it just will not work. you will not damage the sensor. FYI i will tell you what does tho, Spraying penetrating oil on it, some mechanics do this to ease installation..

By not working do you mean it will give a 0 reading or that it will generate a CEL?

scratching me brain here..i know if a sensor is shorted out it can still pulse on the triggers wires and not bring the light on, but if wired wrong way with no pulse - not sure on effect.
