Nothing urgent or pressing.....Looking to order a MY03 WRX in the very near future.

One aspect that I would like to change if possible would be the orange indicator wedges in the front headlight units, so that they are clear or white.

Has anyone who has taken delivery of a MY03 WRX or STI had a good look at the headlight unit with regard to doing this? Does it look doable? Or are any mods in the pipeline for it?

I forgot to have a good look at them yesterday (doh!) but to me it looks like they are part of the headlight unit, and we may have to wait for a whole new one - which will probably be a bit OTT price wise just to get rid of the orange indicator...

Any thoughts?

Cheers

As well as a BTTT, went in today to talk about money etc with the dealer and had a closer look.

I may be wrong but it looks as though the orange triangles/wedges may be almost removable after all.

Anyone any thoughts?

Pretty please......

Ok i have had a quick look at this and it does look like it can be done,

It appears that the headlights are servicable,
i.e. if you crack a front lense then you just replace the lense, i had this on a VW Corrado that i had,

If you look at the piccys above you will notice that the front lense is held in place by a couple of screws along with a rubber bead around the seal, i am pretty sure if the head light was removed and these screws removed and the rubber bead broken then the headlight could be taken apart, to remove the orange wedge, what you replace it with im not sure, it maybe that all you have to do is fit silver bulbs,
I think i will talk to my dealer when the car goes in for its first service and ask to take a look at the service manual.
At this time im not willing to be the first to try.
I will also have a chat with a a friend who has done something similar with a bugeye, it my be a similar operation.

Regards

Thank you - looks like there may be some hope.

I will await your findings with interest.

I will try and remember to ask too when I pick my WRX up on 24th (only ordered/paid deposit today ) but in all honesty I think I may get carried away with just having the car! I'll try and remember though!
