Help duff voltage regulator

Hi all,
Does anyone know the cost of a replacement voltage regulator my Alternator is boiling the battery acid in the battery and it's down to a brocken voltage regulator.
The alternator cannot stop charging the battery when it's full it starts to boil the acid.
do i need a new alternator or is a reconditioned one cheeper or can you replace the voltage regulator and what is the cost.
