Burn the Lens
#1
Hi there, here a question from Belgium : I wanna change the lapms in my car to 80/100 watt for the normal lights and 100 watt for the driving lights. My dealer told me that this will burn the lenses and melt the wiring, and thats really bad sh*t when it happens, so anybody got some advice for me : ???, thanks.

I've been told to stay clear of headlamp bulbs that high and too stick with the 35/55W Xenon bulbs. You could try some Philips bulbs from Powerbulbs as they are still rated at 55W, but are supposed to give off 30% more light.
A few people have run 80/100W bulbs and not had problems, but others have melted the headlamp connector to the back of the bulb. This is the worst I've heard about or read on here in over 3 years.
Can't see the them burning the lenses, but it may melt the reflector and wiring too. Although that's pure conjecture.
As for the driving lamps, are you running PIAA's or Cibies? Or do you mean 'fog lights' when you refer to the driving lamps?
I run 130w bulbs in my PIAA spots with no problems. They come with 120W PIAA bulbs as standard.
