dash and interior lights fused

Got no dash or interior lights! Fuse for these blows as soon as you turn the side or headlights on. Connected test lamp to fuse location and it lights up suggesting the live for the interior lights is fused. Had the dash to bits, checked lights etc, can't see any fused wire!. Got car last week (94 WRX), it's my first impreza thought i'd see if there was a known problem?
