Probably one of the most boring posts ever, but I have original fog lights to fit to my MY99 WR Sport and I CANNOT find anywhere that says the correct bolts to use.

No they didn't come with any, and no my car had nice STI painted covers (no lights) until some ****** nicked them.

So I've bought M6 too big, M4 too small, M5 still too small - do they do such a thing as M5.5 or am I being crazy - anyone know the part number, before I waste another £2-£3?

I believe the Subaru part number is 010006206. I don't know the size though.

I'm sure you could get some from a breaker.

 

They were M6 x 20.

Are the holes rusted solid? if so, buy an M6 tap and pass it through, then grease to hell and back.

Oh...and only use stainless..if you ever want them off again

So I tried the M6 I have through the holes - which yes, are well rusted, and 1 went in (with some force) so I thought i'd got it!

Next one though, bolt sheared leaving a thread in the hole - I guess it serves me right for being too impatient and buying cheap bolts (2.50 for ten)

Any tips getting a thread out of hole?

ps as you can see from my join date, I've been here a while - but because I garaged my WR Sport from 2009-2015 (time for my bolt holes to rust up!) my posting count was reset.

You'll need a decent SHARP drill and a bolt extractor.

It would have been cheaper to buy the M6 tap!!! http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_fr...6+tap&_sacat=0

You can sometimes get away with it by using a high tensile bolt, and cutting grooves down it's length, three of them, using something like a Dremel and a cutting disc.

But no standard bolt in M6 is going to with stand re-cutting a rusted up hole.
