Default Bugeye front foglight replacement

Does anybody know of anywhere or have any info make and type etc on replacing my front fog lights for decent driving lights, I have a uk300 and the amount of light the hella lights put out isn't a whole lot.

Thanks in advance.

AFAIK and IIRC, Prodrive made a kit for bugeyes which replaced the standard fit foglights with hella 1000FF driving lights. The kit came as halogen 55W, but was easily upgraded to 100W halogen, or even a decent aftermarket HID kit, which worked well being a single filament bulb.

You could try dealers see if the kit is still available, it went for around 3130 with halogen bulbs.

or wait/search for a kit on ebay etc.

Or get hold of some Hella 1000FF lights and make your own brackets...any half decent fabricator would make you a pair, preferably out of alloy, for about £30. The bolted on using the same three bolts as the OE foglights.

Here's my classic with Morettes on main beam, GE Megalights in outers and standard 55W H2 bulbs in the inners:

And now the same but with Hella 1000FF HID's:

Both photos taken on the exact same camera settings.
It shows how much better the HID's are, but almost makes the foreground TOO bright...that's the camera rather than the lights.

Sounds right...I personally would NOT buy pencil beam.

Some years ago I had an Escort Rally car with two up two down rally lights, using a pair of Lucas Flarepath 8" lights as my top pair of driving lights, and Cibie Oscars as my bottom pair. The Lucas lights were superb, they were bought as a replacement when one Super Oscar had a fatal accident with a pheasant.

A cousin then got me pair of Lucas LR700 "Flamethrower" 7" spot-beam lights to replace the bottom pair. They had a HELL of a throw to them, but the pencil beams weren't good on anything other than long, straight roads, giving almost a tunnel effect, with little lighting of the verges etc. I sold them on after 6 months and went back to the Cibie's.

Yep, easy to FIT, NOT easy to SET, needing some patience, but excellent once done.

Think about a DECENT (not cheap far eastern) HID kit, and see if you can source some protective clear covers. Mine came with the kit, I found some more recently from the USA, not cheap, but far cheaper and less trouble than a broken lens...they are close to the road and suffer flying stones
