Default Fog light switch illumimation...

I noticed that the symbol on the rear fog light switch in my MY99 classic T2000 doesn't illuminate. The fog lights work & the little bar on the switch illuminates when they are on. Do I need a new switch or can a bulb be replaced? Thanks...

It'll be the bulb.

They can be replaced and are these: http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/12v-096w-w...ent-type-wq13p

You remove the switch, take it inside, and, working over a bit of paper etc, take it to bits. Be careful to note how everything fits and don't lose any springs. A digital photo helps.
Inside you'll find the bulbs, they are threaded through a circuit board bulb holder and then twisted round. Note how they fit, un-twist, un-thread and replace, snipping off the wire ends when it's done.

Rebuild switch and Robert is your mother's brother.

Thanks for the advice - it sounds fiddly & complicated but I'll give it a go! 😊

Well I got the switch out, removed the little circuit board & the chap in Maplins has given me a bulb at least twice the size of the one that was in the switch. Undeterred I replaced the bulb and now the larger bulb is preventing the switch assembly fitting back together and/or operating properly as a switch! :-/

Strange....those are the bulbs that fit in mine.
Take the old bulb to Maplins?

I'm not convinced that the switch didn't break when I carefully dismantled it! There are very few parts & the button doesn't stay 'clicked' on now! :-(
I've been offered an entire lower driver side dash with working switches fitted - question is, how easy is to remove the old part?!? :-)

It's easy to break the catch mechanism on them.

Well, now I'm really baffled! I managed to pick up a set of both fog light switches from a breaking Turbo 2000 & the same lamp didn't illuminate (the symbol for the rear fogs). Was it just a coincidence? I tried swapping the bulbs around & now only the 'lamps on' indicator for the front fog lamps works & neither of the symbols!! The actual fog lamps - front & rear all work OK! Do I need a full set of new bulbs or am I going slightly bonkers?!? 😐

That's what I'm hoping! The bulb recommended by alcazar is available in packs of 50 (!) from China for a fiver! I reckon the numpty in Maplins gave me the wrong size bulb because it wouldn't fit into the holder! 😐

Not sure that they are supposed to illuminate ...... on my Hawkeye the front fog switch lights up and then shows green when switched on but the rear fogs switch doesn't light up ever and when on the light comes on on the dashboard - seem to remember reading somewhere when I queried this that it is as it's supposed to be - check to see if you have a current coming to the bulb with ignition and lights on.

Classic foglight switches have 2 bulbs, one for illumination when the lights are turned one, and one for illumination for when the foglight is switched on.
