Late evening all,
As the thread says i took the car down to AI Autosport this morning with the plan of getting an Ecutek remap. Just to make the most of the car, which for the record is an 05 sti type uk + ppp. Had no intention of getting anything done to the car before this (e.g decat), just wanted to see what the standard power was and go from there. After the very first run it looked like there was nowhere to go, just to give you the figures:
Max power wheels = 262.7bhp @ 6691rpm
Max power engine = 314bhp @ 7431pm
Max torque = 269.6 lbft @ 4765rpm
From memory the boost was around 18psi or roughly 1.2bar by my calcs.
Jonathan said she was running very sweet and and everything looked spot on. I got the impression that most ppp kits sit around 280-290, so the ecutek would bring it up to where it's already at, so the general thought was what's the point of even attempting a remap, and saved me £500 in the process (more money for different mods?).
I’m more than happy, the power runs where all within 1 or 2 bhp from 313 to 315bhp (of course i’ll be quoting 315 to everyone). The torque figure is low, would have been nice for more torque as that’s what gets you down the road after all, but that’s the way it is. However the car doesn’t feel lacking and looking at the graph, i’ve always got 250-270lbft+ from ~3800 to 6500, so not much to complain about.
Just wanted to lay down a marker for the similar cars which are going on the 9th,as i won’t be able to make it. I knows there’s a couple (brocks? and urban?) that have an identical machine to mine. Like i said she’s standard, old filter and hasn’t had a service in who knows how many miles, certainly not in the 5k i’ve put on her since October. I also run on Sainsburys 97 finest. It’ll be interesting to see the numbers that are thrown up, and for anybody who’s never had there car on a rolling road it’s pretty cool, exhaust blaring flat out, you’ll all have a big grin. I don’t know how to post the graph, nor the clips, but if anybody is desperate to see the graph, give me your e-mail and i’ll fire a copy on.
I’ve just noticed somebody was asking what ecutek software AI has on another thread. They don’t have the fly-by-wire software, mine was fine, but i think hawkeyes are a no-no. Don’t quote me on that though.
Have fun on the 9th everyone.

sounds like yours is a good healthy sti!

It cost me £50, which seemed fair to me, several runs too. I am happy to be honest, coming in this morning gunning her down the m5, i just thought do i honestly need anymore power. Of course on a different day on a different set of rollers the results could be better or worse, everyone knows that.
I actually remember e-mailing you bpm1588 when your car was for sale on pistonheads last year, and it was just sold, forcing me to go to England and pick up the one i have now.
