Sad Weekend
My dad lost his 5 year long courageous battle with Alzheimers Disease in the early hours of Saturday morning. It was my dad that first got me interested in cars, like many dads he helped me to buy my first car, he showed me how to do a lot of the routine maintenance on my own cars, he taught me to drive properly, not just basic car control to pass a driving test and athough he could never quite work out why I wanted or needed 4 cars (just as I could never understand why he enjoyed knocking a small white ball around a field for 4 or 5 miles) he helped me work on them and appreciated each of them for what they were.
On Tuesday afternoon we will say goodbye one last time; although the most cruel of illnesses stole from my dad his memories, my memories of the last 33 years are still as vivid as the day they were created.
Make time for your parents guys, before you know it they'll be gone.....

Really sorry to hear of your loss. My grandmother had Alzheimers disease - it's an awful thing to have to watch a loved one slip away gradually over the years. My thoughts are with you and your family.

i understand how ur feeling. i lost my dad 3 months ago. he had suffered from parkinsons and although this had no connection to his death, was still hard for him to deal with. no1 really understands what its like to lose a parent unless they experience it first hand, especially, like us, when ur father has had such an impact on your life, and basically shaped your life for you. he will be at peace now, no more suffering, and he will still be watchin over you, as i know my dad still is. just know that, wherever your daddy is, you will see him again sometime. i believe that and it helps me deal with his death a little better. this life is so cruel. im so sorry for your loss. but rest assured, your dad is up chatting with the greats who have passed before him!! i can just imagine my dad meetin colin chapman (lotus founder) " ach how are ye colin? you know them lotuses? see if you hada strengthened the chassis THIS way........." lol!! he was a joker! love u and miss u daddy x
