Bekee take ur belt cover off and have a look at the belt, give it a wee twist and look for cracks/frays r a shine from the edges, Shiny edges means it has wore down and could do with a change, cracks/frays means ur belts r on their way out and need changed ASAP, notice either of these and belts havnt been changed! (if u twist the longest length and it twists through more than 90degrees it needs tightened)

Was there no receipts with the car as a stamp in the book doesnt mean belts were changed.

Do you mean the drive belt for the alternator and ancillary's or the timing belt.

If its the belt for the alternator etc, I wouldn't bother chasing around too much, its cheap to buy the part and easily (cheap) changed.

If you have doubts about the timing belt, just change it anyway for peace of mind, make sure you have the belt tensioners replaced as well.
