Anyone do or done a bit of racing or rallying
Just couple of mates and I was looking through all me old photos and came across a couple of ones of cars I used to race in Ballymena and Portadown a few years back, of which I might add I built and tuned myself so Ive put this sort of a blog up, guess Im feeling old
ok so its a Ford but boy it was some craic, won a couple of races in her and a lot of 2nds and 3rds and of course the few I didnt finish aaahem... ' no comment ' its just a pity they stopped the racing in portadown, it was a good way to get rid of any pent up anger , well my moto was dont thump'm, just rub'm. well except in the bangers - it was kill
now I would like to add at this point that there is 5mm steal plate welded to the front of the blue banger and that this wee dent was done while trying to park inside a Rover 820
Never paid anymore than 80quid for any of the cars I used in bangers and always seemed to sell off few parts off them to get the money back, well I never had the chances that a certain family member had and nearly won the the world championship, after he broke schuys legs, hehehehe. Wonder if he would lend me a few grand, dont think so
In case you are wondering where the connection is his grandmother and my grandfather were brother & sis and no I aint rich before ya ask.
Well after Portadown stopped the racing I sold all up, bought a 500bhp cossie, sold it cuz it scared the crap out of me and bought a Mk1 Escort RS2000 In Modena Green, now true old hands and rally fans will remember them as the car that made Ford and the Mk2 Escort
Nows she was sold and I bought my 1st scooby, some regrets but when I sit in my scooby and go for a blast they tend to subside, well a bit anyway
So now I do Rally Rescue and Rally timekeeper, I do this at variuos events all over Ireland and Mainland Uk, for the Rally Rescue I done my training in 1st, Vehicle extraction ' well making them into convertables ' only have had to do this in anger 3 times, a Subaru Impreza in Kirkistown rally a few years back, only just qualified for rescue the month before,
second one was a mate form Scotland in his Ford Anglia on the Circuit Of Ireland and a pug 205 on the Galloway Hills Rally in Scotland 2 years ago
All drivers & co 's are all ok now, the anglia was fixed and is back rallying, as for the other 2, well they had to be re-shelled.
Well I hoped I havent bored ya all, but for anyone that is going to the WRC IRELAND, Be Safe, Remember the marshals are there for your safety and above all else and a great Rally

Mk 1
The Mk1 was bought new in 1973 in Northern Ireland by a soldier in shackleton Barracks in 1973, another one of the owners was Mick O'Kane of the PJ O'Kane dynasty... Shes now in moira owned by a complete Ford nut who also has 2 RS3100 capris and a few others.
