Scoobynet McRae Convoy dates
Ok folks, have had a look at upcoming events, rallies/shows/meets etc......
Was thinking of running the memorial convoy on SUNDAY 14TH OCTOBER 2007
Obviously this is a few weeks away and should give everyone enough time to organise time off work etc......
From talking to folks, Sunday was the most favoured day of the week, 30th september is too close to organise now and 7th didnt really work for a lot of people.............there is also a bit of paperwork to do in order to run such a convoy ( Parades Comission permissions etc )
I had intended to try and run something along these lines......
MEET SPRUCEFIELD 1000AM
LEAVE SPRUCEFIELD 1030AM
MEET JUNCTION 1 ANTRIM 1130AM
LEAVE JUNCTION 1 ANTRIM 1200
MEET COLERAINE B&Q 1300PM
LEAVE COLERAINE B&Q 1330PM
MEET L'DERRY B&Q 1430PM
LEAVE L'DERRY B&Q 1500PM
MEET ENNISKILLEN 1600-1630......GO YOUR OWN WAY OR CAN ARRANGE ANOTHER MEET BACK TOWARDS BELFAST AT A TIME AND PLACE TO BE CONFIRMED..........
This route would be mainly A class roads and motorways, avoiding town centres etc where convoys get split up, and has built in meeting points and times/locations, so that anyone who is late to one point knows where to meet up further up the road.........It also takes in all 6 counties for the " lap of honour element "
At this stage this is only my first thoughts and as yet is still very much open to discussion, as are other ideas such as the McRae rear side window stickers as seen on sunday past....however these would also incorporate a Scotland flag and be done in the correct "rally" style font etc....another idea is more press coverage , and maybe a meet up for a meal at the end of the event..........The route I have selected is quite long and as such some people wouldnt want to take in the whole route either, but could join in at any pre selected stage along the way.............
IDEAS AND OPINIONS HERE PLEASE.............

Lets get this list filled up........IF we can get 20+ cars then I will start to post it up on the other websites such as ISDC, SIDC, Jon44w, RMS, Cruisnig etc......HAVE to make sure it suits the majority of folk before confirming it as a definate....dont want to end up in the position of only getting a dozen cars and then some dropping out beforehand...................
Get talking to anyone you know has a scoob, get them registered and lets make this THE convoy to end all scoob convoys seen in NI............
And DONT for get the reason behind the convoy folks............R.I.P.

Course you would mate... the days about Colin......Only thing would be, like the Lurgan Park convoy, all the scoobs will be in colour order and together, so during the convoy you would either have to be ahead or bringing up the rear so to speak......just want to keep the scoobs all together as it creates a bigger visual impact.....

Not wanting to be awkward but isn't the lap a bit on the big side If last Sunday was anything to go by we could struggle to make the meeting points in time.
Also will we be taking in Armagh Just seems a bit out of the way to go to the ends of the counties ie Coleraine , Londonderry and Enniskillen im sure we could take in the 6 counties with a much more compact lap maybe Ballymoney across to omagh skirt the edge of fermanagh then Armagh and back to Sprucefield.

Road trip
Just tripped that run on google,
Works out circa 233 miles, thats only goin as the crow flies looking at the maps, might be worthwhile trimming back slightly????
60 miles from Londondarry to Enniskillen and 89 miles from Enniskillen to this side of Belfast.

Thats what this thread is all about guys, any suggestions are more than welcome........if you have a route that will take in the 6 counties, but still allow for large meeting points along the way such as Sprucefield and Junction1, get them posted up before we have to finalise the route.......
From the amount of interest generated in less than 24 hours this looks like it will go ahead on the date shown above....................
Just need to get the route finalised along with timings and then get it posted on the other forums.....
Thanks yet again for the input guys, keep them coming

Circiut of N. Ireland returns...
You can run from Londonderry, Omagh, skim across the top of Fermanagh (without goin down into Enniskillen) and then cross country.
A32 to Irvines town, Kilskerry, Trillick, over the hill to Five mile town, Clougher, Augher and M1.
But suppose then that takes you off the main roads, thats were the problems may start...
Google Maps
Dunno, whats yous think??
