Default BMW Help needed - Lisburn Area

A colleague has recently bought a 2002 BMW 320d SE. Travelling to work the other day the car lost power and became very smokey.

Is there anyone in the lisburn area with diagnostic equipment who can help diagnose the cause of the problem? At the moment the train of thought points towards the turbo failing. He doesn't want to drive the car if it can be avoided, does anyone know of a mobile service who can determine fault codes on BMW's, or know anyone in the Lisburn area who could troubleshoot the or rectify the fault.

Reply in the thread or PM's would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

TT

Turbo problems are common on the 2.0d engines around that age and the best way of telling is to remove the intake of the turbo and check that the turbine shaft is not broken or it has too much movement up or down and in or out and that there is not loads of oil in the pipes and turbo itself.

ditto above...very common problem...and not a particularly cheap fix either.
