Brake pads
I know there have been loads of threads further on up the forum list. I just want some local advice.
I need to replace pads all round on my STI UK 2002. I am currently looking at Ferodo DS2500s. Also would £197 inlcuding VAT be a good price?
Anyone used them?
Like them?
Hate them?
Alternatives?
Many thanks

I am lost as to what i should go for.
Mintex i think are better for track, which i won't really be doing much of.
Don't really know much about the EBC stuff. Jonny can you give me any advice on how good?
DS2500s seem to be good for fast road use but are a little more dusty than EBC stuff.
Got a price of £197 inc vat all round for DS2500. Is that good/bad or ugly?
cheers guys

Brakes
I used the green stuff for my 2lt 16v megane coupe, very aggresive pad so gave a very good brake, I used red stuff for my lightning rod race car which was as much an aggresive pad but is std pad , all of them were dusty, not had any experience of the minties, I have got the prices now from bob, dont want to put my phone number on here but i will pm you with it, make sure ya sitting down when ya call me, cus you will be very happy, now the prices are for the red stuff pads, the others are competition or track pads and eat discs for lunch, Ill be putting EBC all round inc discs when shes due for a change
heres some tech bits
EBC REDSTUFF CERAMIC
High Performance Road M3, Evo, Impreza etc.
Generally recommended for cars producing over 200BHP and / or 4WD
Since this material was introduced in late 2003, it has received many positive write ups from performance drivers of faster cars such as the Impreza. This is a truly impressive fast road pad for repeated heavy braking. It emits far less dust than semi-metallic pads and has been proven to stop a saloon car 13 metres quicker than OEM pads from 100mph/160kph.
Features EBC Brake-In TM surface coating which conditions rotor surface and accelerates pad bed-in.
Average friction coefficient 0.5

DS2500
Anoothe vote for the ferrodos, I had scoobies for 8 yrs and the STI UK 02 for almost 5 and the ferrodos are THE best I've used.
Minimal dust, consistent stopping power warm and cold, not too expensive, last relatively well.

Sometimes people dont want cheap though. They want quality.
Value for money is still relative. If all you ever use are low grade goods...how will you ever know what is or isnt proper good stuff ?
Ive used EBC Greens and reds before.
They are ok.....but the Ferodos are proper brake pads.
Doesnt matter whether you listen or not. Everyone can give their opinion....
Its who's opinion is worth believing that matters.

mmmm
yes everyone has there own opinon, just like i had mine on the tuning, and of course ya had urs, but u still tried to make an idiot out of others, you succeeded doing that only of urself, with regards to the brakes, yes everyone has there opinon, but how much is your quality pad that you can get, how much can you even get the ebc brakes for?, what i am passing onto the selected few is a very good discount on ebc brakes, so much so i maybe could kit out 2 cars pads & discs all round, cheaper than you could do one. (new ones of course)
so would you not want that if you had the chance, but u dont
so HI ho off you go, lets agree to disagree, you keep out of mine and I return the same.

Actually no, I wouldnt.
When I want quality product for my car, I buy it. Simple as. Money spent once is money spent wisely. But again, it depends on what the person intends using the car for.
Buying cheap, only to discover you arent happy with it...well its money thrown down the drain, when you have to buy again..
I have done that in the past many times...but I have learnt from those mistakes.....some people make them over and over again without learning..
But.. the EBC's will still be very good for many fast road users, but if they want to step up a notch...then I dont believe EBC offer a good enough product for hard or track useage.
They will be ok...but in this case, the Ferodo DS2500 pads are simply better, and work great on the road too.
But if you can supply EBC gear at keen prices, then by all means do so to whoever wants them.
Its always good if people get get discount.
