Default Insurance in Dublin area.....

I'll soon be bringing my car over from Switzerland and importing it here. It'll (hopefully) have around 450 hp with rotated turbo, FMIC, 6MT, etc. Maybe down to 400 hp on local fuel, need to see how additives work with 95 ron.

It is also fitted only with the immobiliser that comes as standard issue from Subaru in Swissieland - will I need to fit a decent alarm system?

Oh, and it's LHD

Who are some of the best companies to approach for insurance? I'm 40 years old, clean license and full NCD.

Thanks, Richard

Do a search in here. You should find a lot of information on insurance as its a bit of a sore point in Ireland (North & South).

The only ones which springs to mind is quinn direct & axa.ie(But then again, I'm from the North and wouldn't necessarily know)

Firstly, you will find it difficult to insure the car with modifications. None if any insurance companys over here like cars with modifications.

Secondly, Very few insurance companys will even cover the Impreza because it is very popular with thieves. I found while trying to insure mine that they simply will not offer a quote for the Impreza.

Thirdly, yes you will need a decent alarm. Something like a Clifford Intelliguard 950.

Fourthly, your engine will not run correctly on our 95 octane fuel. You run the risk of it going bang. I suggest a remappable ECU like an Apexi Power FC.

good luck

you'll be fine getting insurance in south as there not pushed asking you about mods. not as strict. You'll have no bother getting insurance.

Thanks All - I do a search and start hunting around. I assume fully comp will not be worth it on a my00, and I'm better 3rd party, fire and theft?

My standard JECS ECU is reprogramable.....up to 500 reliable reflashes apparently....probably only around 400 currently

Anywhere around Dublin to get high purity Methanol?

Thanks, Richard
