Type R Concerns

Type R Concerns
HHi Guys,
I have just put a deposit on a 00 Type R in a import dealer up the north. The dealer is waiting on the registration to be completed as its just in out of Japan. Some other threads are highlighting issues with model reports etc around these models and now I am getting concerned.
Does anyone have any advice on what I need to look for to ensure I'm not getting a "BAD EGG".
I apologize for my innocence but I have driven a company car for the last 8 years and have never bought a car from the north.

hope it hasn't had the *** ragged off it. jap cars are limited to 112mph so in theory it shouldn't. are you getting any guarantee with the motor? can you extend the warranty on the car as they can be expensive to repair.

I would imagine if it is totally standard, pasing the legal stuff should be ok.
But I would say make sure it is full road legal before you buy it. ie all documents in order and MOT'd ( or SVA'd as is more likely now )
I'd ask on the mian forum about import legalities. The law did change recently making it much harder to import a car and use it legally on british roads.

If your going to register the car in the north getting her though the SVA test can be tricker than it used to due to a model report not being avaiable for that car, I tried a MY99 V5 Type R middle of last year and in wasn't gonna be easy, there is a couple of guys who can get her through tho. On the other hand is she's heading for the south then you don't have a problem.
