I think posting things here for sale is not a problem. If they were posted in the main for sale forum they could get "lost" and it would be a waste of time. Also saying that this is an events forum only, I think you will still have the same problem in the main sections with our posts getting "lost" due to the sheer volume of posts from the other 5000+ members. All in all I think that posting anything relating to Subarus and motoring in general based in Ireland North or South can only be beneficial to all concerned. Don't forget that we are a small minority on the board , so if we can find a little corner where we can have a smoke and a chat all the better.

Cheers

Alan

Hi guys
Just wanted to get your opinions on this...
Theres been a couple of posts on the forum recently regarding items for sale
Strictly speaking these should be posted in the For Sale forum
However I know that the lads who are selling the various bits n' pieces are based in Ireland so I imagine that they would attract more attention from potential Irish customers by posting here
Personally I have no problem with it but as theres a for sale forum that might be more appropriate

If anyone has an opinion either way let me know
Thanks
Niall

As one of the guilty peeps heres my opinion

It really does make it much easier to have the ForSale items in here because tbh I never look in the main FS section as everything is in England/Scotland/Wales and 9 times out of 10 you want to view a second hand item b4 you hand over your cash.

Does anyone feel agrieved if we post FS&WTD stuff in here?

On a similar note, this forum is realy only for Events in Ireland.

What are everyones opinions on discussion of other things that really only have a local interest? For example, my post on SERE in Belfast?

Agree with you on this one Scruff.

perhaps it's a good idea to make sure the post title reflects the subject. ie: a guy selling items should make sure that it says so in the title. Then anyone not wanting to read it can ignore it?

Just my opinion.

Paul.

Sorry, I think I might have sparked this off.

But as has been said already, us guys on the Emerald Isle are not going to have many takers from the mainland on the main FS forum, obviously due to people wanting to see the goods before they buy, cost of carriage, etc.

I agree completely with what Paul stated, that if the post title suitably reflects the subject of the post, then it should be allowed ........

I have no probs with local sales being advertised in here.

In fact I would encourage it, but agree with macs power that it should say so in the title of the post.

I have tried to buy a couple of things through the main For Sale section. As soon as they hear I'm in Ireland they mess about and sell it to someone local.

Perhaps, we could come up with a set of abbreviations which would be the first thing in the title, which we could all use to decide our interest in the post. ??

I.e.

FS For Sale
IW Item Wanted
AD Advice/Help Required
TQ Technical Query
SI Supplier Information
IR Insurance Related

Im sure you all get the drift.

Im guessing it was something of a stinging rebuke for making a stupid suggestion

WWYBGWABOYB

why would you be generally wa*kerish and bugger off you b*****d ???

Sul

PS Suls SUL fund is already in crisis and negotiations with OPEC are proving fruitless. Submissions have been made to the UN for emergency rations.

I guess you'll just have to explain it here and now.

And because im a moron with the puter -

Thanks for the prompt replies lads
It appears that most people are ok with posting for sale & wanted posts etc in the irish forum as long as the title of the post states so...
If its ok with you lot then great

Cheers
Niall

Sul, its the old saying,

Where Would You Be Going Without A Bell On Your Bike?

I know I know, I will keep to the prescription drugs in future.
