Ireland Rally’s Stars Go head to head with Subaru World Rally Champions at Belfast’s First Ever Urban Rally!

If you are up for an action packed weekend this December then make sure you get down to the Odyssey Arena and Titanic Quarter, Belfast on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th December.
Why…? Because the 2003 Championship winning Subaru World Rally Team are coming to compete in Belfast’s first ever urban rally – ‘The Titanic World Rally Sprint’.

The Subaru World champions will be in Belfast for the entire weekend competing against forty of Irelands top Rally Drivers on a mile long race track specially built in the historic Titanic Quarter Yard beside the Odyssey Arena. This will be the first time ever that the Subaru World Rally Team have competed in an Irish Rally event and to add even more ‘fuel to the fire’ they will be performing in full view in Belfast’s city centre.

Subaru has now been the driving force behind six FIA World Rally Championship titles in the last nine years. SWRT driver Petter Solberg became the first Norwegian to win the FIA World Rally Championship for drivers. In a spectacular finale to the 2003 WRC series, the 28-year-old won the Wales Rally GB by a margin of 43.6 seconds, to collect the fifth WRC win of his career, his second consecutive victory in Wales and secure the 2003 WRC Drivers' title. Having led the event from Leg one, the charismatic star kept his nerve on the final three stages on Sunday and delivered a perfect strategic performance - to the delight of the thousands of fans that cheered him all the way.

Petter Solberg’s latest competition winning Subaru Impreza WRC2003 will also being making its Irish Debut at the event. This world famous blue and gold Subaru will be piloted by 1999 Finnish Champion Pasi Hagstrom - SWRT’s official test driver and one half of Solberg’s gravel crew on WRC events. Hagstrom has also competed for Subaru Rally Team USA in the final two events of the North America SCCA championship this year. (More info on Pasi attached below)

“I am delighted to be competing for Subaru in the inaugural Titanic World Rally Sprint,” said Hagstrom. “It has been an amazingly successful year for Subaru winning with Petter in the WRC and also in the Production Cup Championship and I am really looking forward to finishing off the year in style in Belfast. There is such a great heritage for rallying there and I can’t wait to put the Impreza through it paces for all the fans.”

Be guests of the 555 Subaru World Rally Team and become fully immersed in the Rally experience in the Subaru Comet hospitality suite. Limited space left, call 028 79 645803.

Gareth Logan – Whiteabbey

Stanley Balentine - Strabane

# Race Times:

(Saturday & Sunday)

Practice 11:00am

First Timed Run 12:30pm

Second Timed Run 2:00pm

Third Timed Run 3:30pm

A Rally Time Trail is the same set up as a Stage Rally, the only difference is the Drivers are on their own. Normally they would have a Co. Driver giving them instructions on directions severity of bends and other hazards. This type of event the Drivers have to memorise all the bends etc., this is the reason for the Practice Run.

The winner on the day shall be the competitor with the fastest time of the three timed runs
