Here is a full lap of the Nurburgring in my STi5 TypeRA V-Ltd from a few weeks ago. I have one of the quicker bike riders onboard with me, bit of a nutter, he rides an R7 round the ring.

The lap is an 8:37 BTG time, not my quickest of the weekend, but its more entertaining.

Hope you enjoy it

John

Nice video John

8:37? Much quickness, makes my Skoda look slow at 8:43 and even then, 8:37 wasn't your quickest. Hmmmm, I think I need a quicker car, or driver training!

Thumbs up

Good show JF. Good time too considering the traffic.

What surprises me... I thought your gearing cause much more shifting work, but the video shows otherwise.

Tip, mount camera a tad higher next time, as it gives a sort of "boaty" feeling this way

Nah, I reckon the "boaty" feeling comes from the fire-trucked dampers

Hi John,

Respect, great lap time, smooth driving!
This could indeed be a great video. Unfortunately however, as already mentioned, the camera was mounted too low. As a consequence, one can hardly see the track.

Regards,
Patrick

I am sure i can sort something for you Jon.

I am going again next week and taking some bullit cams, so will put together a video of some external shots of the wheels, track from the front spoiler, stuff like that. It should be fun.

OK, here is another lap from my July trip, this is the first time i drove my STi at the ring, so it's a little bit slower. It also has the detour at T13 for the GP track, so laptimes mean nothing.

on the gearing, you should see that i only use 3rd, 4th and 5th gear once moving. In a UK car i would probably use 2nd in a couple of places. I am losing time too, if you look closly the revs drop masively on the 4th to 5th change, as i have the TypeRA 4th and the normal STi 5th. The revs drop almost 4000rpm in that shift, i really need a TypeRA 5th to get the max out of the car. Type RA's are manic compared to a UK spec car, but they arent that bad, certainly nothing like what i consider a fast gearchange car.

8:35 ish BTG with quite some traffic and a T13 detour...

Yeh, i wondered where you were Theo, you arent exactly that easy to miss when you are there.

Got some very good laps in this weekend, all very consistent 8:30 ish times. I need to set the suspension up properly, but it was a big step forward in consistency.

nope, no problem.

I am just playing with some editing software to get split screen simultaneous front/rear footage. Just learning as i go.

I uploaded some great footage, just waiting for that to go up on the webserver.
