Wiring up BOOST GAUGE
#3
Dave,
If I hook it up with the Fog lamp switch, will the gauge light up with the main lights?
When I take the casing of the steering, will the purple wire be easy to locate?
Finally with the gauge, will I only need to connect the purple wire to it to make it work.
cheers

1) Yes - it takes the foglamp switch illumination feed, not the foglamps themselves, so will come on and go off with the side/headlamps, irrespective of fogs..
2) You have to take the panel off to the right of the steering column that the foglamp switch is in to connect to the switch.
Ideally splice into the wire and solder the connections then insulate.
3) There should be a feed and earth to the boost gauge. Take the feed to the purple wire on the back of the foglamp switch, and the ground to a clean earth.
(This is how Subaru recommend you wire the official Subaru/LaMco gauge).

Yep. Find a bolt under the foglamp switch panel that bolts to the car's steel frame and has no paint on it. You need a crimp on eye connector on the end of the wire.
BTW, don't dangle any wires/vacuum tubing across any moving bits of the steering column.
PS - didn't you get any instructions with the gauge?!

I broght it from the For Sale section (Lamco gauge). Should recieve it on Tuesday/Wednesday.
I think the seller is going to mail me the instructions. Thought I do my own research, just in case.
Finally will the casing around the right of the steering column pull out or is it held on by some screws.
I'll carefully route the wire/vacuum hose, dont want it to get caught with something.
Thanks for ur help.

I can only speak for a MY02 STi, but foglamp switch panel is probably held on with a couple of Philips screws at the bottom, and a couple of plastic clips at the top that you can prise away carefully with your fingers.
If you get the instructions they are quite comprehensive - I fitted the second one in 30 minutes start to finish
