2005 blobeye STI Type UK --> kph speedo?
Cheers. Anyone got a clue how to convert genuine mph clocks to show km/h? I'm looking for a clean solution.
- Obviously buying LHD km/h clocks might be the best solution. However they are almost impossible to find. Moreover, I don't know whether the new clocks will be plug and play or if I will need a converter. But then again mph --> km/h converters are impossible to find :-(
- Trying to find kph gauge faces (dials), take the clocks apart and swap them. However, total mileage will still be read in miles
- Installing JDM clocks: AFAIK they are restricted to 180 kph vMax - is this done via the clocks or via ECU? I.e., if I put them in a type UK will the needle simply go beyond 180 kph or will I hit the limiter?
- AFAIK the clocks work electronically. Does this mean there is always the same signal coming from the transmission, and the Speedo converts the signal into mph or kph?
I would appreciate if someone could shed some information on my questions.

It's a type UK. Thus, it does read in mph. However I need to have it read kph as I'm from continental Europe.
Haven't found a mph-to-kph converter anywhere.

Uk clocks are marked in both mph and kmph is this not good enough for you test, if not try to get some jap clocks it would be easiest option and I believe the restriction is ecu related you can get 260kmph clocks on some jap models

However, uk cars are marked with mph and kph measurements on the clock, so where is the issue in keeping original clocks and using the kph markings?

The tiny kph dials are tough to read properly. In addition, the mileage would still read in miles which is annoying considering all road signs site distances in km. I know I can convert them in my head, but I'm aiming for a proper solution.

Could you check part numbers for gearbox sensors for uk and jdm because if they are the same the clocks fitted without converter would read in kmh and if sensor is different just fit one as well as the clocks as it would be neatest solution. You would also get the deli style cluster which looks much better than uk ones
