Oil Pressure sender?

I`m trying to fit an oil pressure gauge and know from earlier threads the approximate position of the sender unit is under the alternator but there appears to be two sender units! one is horizontal ie level with the road the other is fixed vertically ie strait down on a new age 2002 model does anyone know which is which? Thanks in advance for any advice.
