Default What rails do I need for DC5 recaro seats?

I want to fit some red Recaro seats from a DC5 into my hawkeye.
Does anyone know what rails I'll need to get them to fit?

Hey Guys,

I'm the OP on the above two threads (SubieWReX). To avoid any confusion I joined ScoobyNet to help anyone interested in doing this.

The seats are NOT a direct bolt in replacement for the stock seats in the GD impreza, however their dimensions make them a pretty good fit with some light fabrication.

Here are some very over-simplified steps on how to fit them;

- cut the mounting tabs off of the DC5 rails/sliders
- cut the mounting tabs off of the OEM rails/sliders
- set the DC5 seats in the car in the proper seating position. The front of the DC5 sliders will rest on the front seat crossmember. The rears will need to be mocked up with both of the OEM rear mounting tabs. Use a paint pen to mark the appropriate mounting position for the OEM tabs on the DC5 rails.
- Once your positions are marked, tack weld the mounting tabs onto the DC5 rails.
- Test fit the seats again in the car, to make sure the seating position of the rear mounting points are correct.
- for the front mounting, the shape of the DC5 rails do not allow you to simply transfer over the OEM front tabs. The DC5 rails are taller, so you will need to make your own. Take 4 pieces of ~13cmx8cm steel bar, and bend them to ~60* to contour the bend on the crossmember.
- Drill a hole into them and test fit.
- Tack weld the fronts onto the DC5 rails
- Test fit the seats again, if they're good give them a nice welding to the DC5 brackets.
- Pull them back out and spray a couple coats of spraypaint onto the bare metal to avoid corrosion.
- remove the seat belt clip from the OEM brackets and bolt them into the DC5 brackets. This was a straight swap, but you need the seatbelt sensor in order to make the airbags works.

As for the airbags... You will no longer have seat airbags, so you will need to do a couple of things additional to make them compatible.
1) remove the seat base bladder out of the OEM seat and transplant it into the base of the DC5 seat. This will allow for the proper functionality of the passenger seat dashboard airbag
2) place 3.3 ohm resistors into the plugs that typically go into the side airbag plugs on each of the OEM seats.

I believe that was all I needed to do.

Overall, this took me about 6-7 hours of work with someone helping me. Grinding off the old brackets was the toughest part.

Here are some more recent pictures of them in the car.

I wouldn't recommend this for any kind of track racing, but it works fine for autocross.

Battle Monkey/SubieWReX... Cheers for taking the time to register and clearing it up.

I think I may go down the lazy route and purchase some Recaro rails.

I'm hoping these are universal Recaro rails and all model of seats will fit.

Your DC5 seats look great btw. Red seats really pop!

Not a problem! I'm glad that I could help out.

For those rails, just verify that those will work with the Recaro Speeds. I imagine that the Speeds and the DC5 seats are a similar platform.

And thanks! I really like the red seats, I always wanted some. If you end up getting the DC5's, I guarantee that you will not be disappointed with the comfort and support over stock.
