Gauge fitting help needed please
Hi I've just bought a set of motor meter gauges and I can't work out how to wire up the oil pressure gauge. I have the sender but the wires have been cut and I don't want to connect them the wrong way and pop something also there is 4 wires on a plug and I thing it's for the power and earth but again im not sure does anyone have any instructions or knolage that would help.
Thanks
Thanks

The top plugs are for the senders and the two at the bottom are to link them together but the first one on the left im guessing is to connect to the live and earth and illumination but as they are smoked face gauges shouldn't they be lit all the time? Some pics

They lool similar to the prosport ones, I have the following wiring details for the prosports, when you use the dash clock wiring.
Prosport - Subaru Clock Wiring
Black - Ground
Red - Blue w/Red Stripe
Orange - White w/Red Stripe
White - Yellow w/Blue Stripe
I can't find out what clock wires are what, perhaps someone else can help with that.

On those, the wires doing live, illumination etc are daisy chained from gauge to gauge?
Where does the OTHER wire with the SAME colours at bottom on the oil pressure gauge go to? Or is it this one you are worried about?
The TOP fittings look like senders: are they complete?
This is the usual wiring. Try it, it can't do damage.

I found this for you
RED: permanent live, ie : NOT switched.
ORANGE: switched live from ign. etc.
WHITE: lights.
BLACK: earth.

OK, to answer questions in order:
First off, connect black to black, white to white, for the sender. That would be sensible.
Second, the other wires. Do you have a circuit tester? One like this is good: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-CIRCUI...item563a0e4542
ebay or local carshop. DO NOT pay loads, that one is perfect! The pointy bit lets you find live wires right through the insulation
Red: to a permanent live. It MUST be live all the time, whether ingnition is on, or off. A good place is the rear of the hazards switch.
Orange: switched live: it should be live only when ignition is on second click, ie: just before you turn against the spring to start the car?
There are wires like that at the steering column switch, or things like the HRW switch?.
White: yes, lighting. It should ONLY be live when sides are selected, (but should REMAIN live when headlights go on). Again, the lighting wire to the hazards switch will do.
Earth: a DECENT earth. I ran mine back under the bonnet to a suitable bolt, but you could go right back to battery. Without a decent earth you will have numerous probs, so get it right first time.
If using Scotchlok type connectors, don't use the blue ones, they are for too thick wires, you want red ones. Or strip wires back, wind the new wire round, solder and tape up neatly.

The issue with the sender is I just have 2 screw down bits that will except eyelet type fittings but there is nothing on it to say black or white as the previous person disconnected them then cut the wire back but didnt leave the wires on the sender so I don't know what side the black one goes or the white. Obviously it's only one of 2 ways but I don't want to pop anything if its sensitive etc. the other info is great thankyou very much. I only solder connections and shrink wrap them that way there is never an issue.
