Default STI clocks to WRX, any issues?

Looking to fit STI clocks to my WRX blob.. Close to buying a set of ex bugeye STI items.. someone has told me there will be an issue as they're not from the same year car? Can anyone confirm this or not?

Any help welcomed...

Shift light will work fine, just have to set it to the revs you want. Should take no more than 30 mins to fit.

So they didn't take long to fit a few weeks ago, but, I know have a permanent ABS light when driving. Had a full Subaru diagnostics check this week and brake system is fine. Any thoughts? One idea is the last owner frigged the clocks as he had an ABS fault to sell the car..

if your abs light is on then the abs system is not working, and the diagnostic should of picked up on this.??

No thats meant to be a common problem when changing the clocks. There is a trick to sort it out. I can't remember off the top of my head but there are loads of topics on it.

I think you either have to swap a wire around or use a resistor. Be careful though as car safety electrical systems are to be part of the MOT next year and a resistor may effect it.

Having read through the links now it looks like I'm stuck with the ABS light on.. It's working fine, been checked out on a Subaru diagnostics, but as yet there is no way of getting rid of the light. Piece of black tape it is then..

Sedge, I gave Andy a phone yesterday, what a top fella couldn't have been more helpful. Said phone back today which I did and he's actually going to post me the details on solving my ABS light issues. I'll post a proper thank you in general forum once it arrives.. Quite an easy fix apparently but I'm sworn to secrecy!!

speedo converter. red -+12v
black - earth
yellow - speed in kmh gearbox side
grey - speed out mph loom side

need to test plug for wiring on car, turn on ign, do not start engine, and test wiring, speed signal will show about 4 volts.

The abs lights is basically that the pre 05 clocks require a negative to turn the light off and post 05 use a negative to turn the light on, a small relay solves this, also on the post 05 clocks there is an extra sensor for the handbrake and this needs wiring to permanent negative to distinguish the handbrake light correctly.if you compare the diagrams is straight forward, but the easiest way on a pre 05 car is fit sti 8 or 7 clocks and post 05 fit sti 9 or 10 clocks. As I wanted hawkeye sti 10 clocks in my 03 wrx I had to do the above along with wiring the inter cooler spray warning light to negative as well. Worked brilliantly and I did all alterations on back of cluster so that my loom was left intact. So was easy to change back

First of all open link and print off picture.Locate wire B3 and cut leaving enough wire on either end. Next you need a 5 pin change over relay connect as follows
term 85 any ignition live
86 cut wire from loom
30 earth
87a cut wire from clocks
This only works when fitting later clocks lo early cars and abs light is off when ign first turned on then after 2 or 3 secs it comes on and stays on.
If you have problems with handbrake light term A2 needs an earth
to turn off diff temp light B4 needs an earth.

usual disclaimers at your own risk etc etc.
