Default newage - where to mount guages?

Hi all, looking for some advice on where to mount guages in my 05 blobeye STI.

Ive seen the pod clusters that sit on the dash but where else have people mounted there guages?

Please post a pic of how yours is set up

I will probably go for boost, oil temp and oil pressure but are there any other good options other than the A pillar and dash pod?

What size are you going for mate, I have got a twin pod that goes around the dashboard dials that I will be selling soon. It fits 52mm gauges. Have got a pic so will post up later.

Im still unsure what the options are mate, i think the center dash pods fit 52 and 51mm.

Ive seen a set of 3 racetech guages on ebay but im not sure of the quality compared to defi's, they do look fairly nice though.

I dont think these need a controller unit either?! if you buy defi dials do you need to controller? where would you mount it?

I don't have any experience with race tech but I have prosport in my car and they are very good. Prosport also do gauges called stepper that are similar to defis and can record peek temps and boost etc but at a fraction of the cost.

As for controllers I think you can get defis that don't need one but if you did have one alot of people have fitted them in the blanked of section next to the dash cup holder.

Thanks for the info, stick a photo up when you get chance

How much work is it fitting the sensors to the engine/turbo?
Fairly easy DIY job in a day or so?

They aren't to hard to do mate, the hardest is the oil pressure sensor as you need to remove the alternator to get at the standard sensor. I am going to do this on my car in the next couple of days.

Will put the pic up soon

Do you mean fitting the gauges or the surround? The surround just screws in place of the OEM one, it's not a perfect fit as its only available from the USA and is meant to be for LHD imprezas. I don't think it looks too bad though.

I have gone for a triple A pillar pod as I wanted to keep my dash clock.

The button is a switch for the side lights, pretty sure you must have one of these

I meant the surround i couldnt tell how it fit exactly.

Looks pretty tidy though. I may go for the pillar option as i dont want rid of the clock either!

Sidelights?! ive got an 05 UK STI and have never noticed it.... and it looks pretty obvious lol. i will have a look tonight haha.

The switch may not of been put onto your age car as mine is a bugeye.

There are a couple of dash pods that keep the clock but they are expensive, think zerosports make one and it's around £150
