Default Gearknob and gaitor removal

How do i do it?I have tried to unscrew it but when it finally comes off it is still inside the gaitor.The car in question is an 04 WRX.

when u unscrew it off it just needs a gd firm pull as its held in place with rubber ring thats parts of the gaitor,

how does the gaitor come off ? I dont really want to use a screwdriver down the side

the gaitor is connected to the silver surround via nut and bolt, which also attaches to the plastic trim/panel that the gear stick sits in.

Easiest thing to do is to unclip the transmission tunnel trim, then you can get access to the bolts under, and unscrew with an allen key from the top.

Hopefully that makes sense, as i kinda played it out how i did it in my head!
