Can a steering wheel be flocked?

As title, I have a wheel with the leather removed, wanted to know if its possible. If so will it last well?

my mate did this as a test to see the strengh of the flock.l now it can be done and his has been on for some time but it is showing signs of wear. only faint. but still looks good.
