Loose seat base help, UK Turbo
Hi everyone, I pcked up my new Impreza couple of days ago (2000 Impreza Turbo),
I noticed the driver seat base seems loose, and has a gap between the base and back rest, where as the passenger seat dosent.
I am just about to buy a second hand leather interior but sounds like this has the same problem.
Does anyone know why this is and how to fix?
thanks James

Welcome to scoobynet first of all, and hope you enjoy the new car (once you've got the seats sorted out)
Your seat problem isn't something I've ever seen or heard about before, so your best bet is probably to post some pictures up and see if it rings any bells with other members.

It might be best to remove the whole seat, and inspect it. It's held in place with four bolts. Then you can see where the seat is held to the subframe. It may be sprained or even broken. I used to drive a Vauxhall Carlton which had a broken seat-to-subframe weld, it made the seat back feel loose and it was also twisted.
DO be CAREFUL replacing the seat: you MUST screw the bolts in hand tight. If any won't go, wiggle the seat about until they do, then tighten all four with your socket set. WARNING: FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL LEAD TO YOU STRIPPING THE BOLT THREADS, THEY APPEAR TO BE MADE OF CHEESE!

The gap between base and back is normal. Passenger seat doesn't have the adjustability of the drivers hence no gap. If the base seems lose it could be a snapped bracket. I got that on mine. Will get it out and have it welded soon as I can be bothered.
