What seats are the standard fit for the MY02 WRX, my dealer (UK supplied car) tells me they are the bucket seats (hope so), but I notice WRXBOB's are the sports seats with side airbags (not that it matters). Just wondered...

Hi Yorkie

I had the choice of buckets or sports seats...

After lots of testing I decided my lard ar$e would be better suited to the sports seats...I just couldn't live with buckets all the time.
For track work the buckets are a must have...IMHO

AFAIK there is no price difference between the two seat options.

If you wanted buckets then I would have specified it on the order, if not the dealer could dump the sports seats on you

Still a brilliant car even with the sports seats...£90 fuel bill already!

I was told all UK supplied cars come with Buckets unless you specify the sports (July delivery) which come with airbags, no cost option. Just wanted to be sure.

Bob, whats the stereo like mate ?

Hi

Stereo is OK...but not brilliant, sounds to me(no pun intended) like the speakers are the usual OEM crap the most manufacturers use.

Would have preferred a MD/CD combi instead of Tape/CD unit.

Will upgrade the speakers BEFORE the head unit..

Don't know whether you know 'em but Autotek are very good, St. Marys Road in Sheffield, near to Bentleys ! Experts in car audio. Will do you some good after market speakers.

WRX,
Does the full scooby sport make a difference, I have the rear box of which they can fit for me.( they adapt it slightly for STI 7)
But then my dealer told me about the PPP pack, which they reckon will take bhp up to 330.
Should I wait, or change rear box now.

Bucket seats that came with MY01 are really comfortable !! I find them better than the sport seats .. Mate has one and I'm not too keen . (personal preference)...
100 X better than the leather seats in my previous 200SX .. After an hour cruising down M/W back started to hurt !!! not so on new WRX...

Oh yes .. most important .. Wife likes the bucket seats !! She said she needs them with my driving ..

Have to agree with you Scotty, seats in my current Turbo are buckets and they are superb. New WRX coming with them hopefully

Ours is coming with the buckets - apparently, you can't get the sports seats with the 5 door for some reason....

Wink

Thats right mate. But you also get some rear headrests NICE I must admit I was tempted with a wagon, but at the end of the day I don't really need the extra practicality. Great car for anyone who does

Nice rear spoiler on the 5 door as well Mate. And, I've got to have something to put the Subaru dog guard in that I've just collected - look at bit daft on a 4 door, except maybe as a cow catcher....

updating my views on the seats...

I don't regret having sports seats one bit, but I can imagine that they would be useless for track work.
If I was to buy another, I would like to do a few hundred miles in bucket seats to see if I could live with them.If I could cope with doing 200 miles non stop(fuel permitting!)in the buckets, then I would go for them.

Only tried buckets for a very short spell and couldn't get comfy (fat barsteward that I am) so went for the "soft option"
After doing 600 miles over the weekend I cannot fault my seats, no problems at all.

BOB

The fact that I've had some lower back trouble in the past influenced me in my choice of seats.Plus I get the side airbags for when I write it off...

It's whatever you're comfortable with Mate. I admit that the buckets, err, pinch a little - but you soon get used to 'em. And I'm by no means waif like....
