Hi, has anyone found a way to shut up the alarm when the engine is off with the ignition being on - other than ripping the defi link out and stamping on it

Press 'play' then the 'up' button till it bleeps. Bobs your uncle.

it should only bleep at you if you have the ignition on two clicks. ie: ready to start the engine.
Only ONE click should NOT produce a beep if it's wired properly.
RED: permanent live
ORANGE: switched live,
WHITE: lights
BLACK: earth

Thanks, I'll try the advice later.

They don't beep when the ignition is one click round, but then the stereo does not come on and my aim is to have the stereo on without the engine or the defi's making noise.

Who fitted the stereo? It sounds like THAT is wired to ignition live rather than ACC, (two clicks against one). I'd check that first.

Yes some stereos have a red and yellow wire that has its own bullet connections, so you can swap them around.

Edit to say 1 red and 1 yellow wire. Not 1 wire with red and yellow on.

Never knew that, tried it today and it works

But I always keep my ignition on 2 clicks when waiting, just saves a second then having to plip the alarm after the immobiliser has kicked in

Ok, just had a go.

The trick with pressing play then the up button did not work for me.

Also, i was wrong with what i said before, both the radio and the defi's come on with the first click of the ignition key.

Arrrghhh, any other ideas?
Do i need to get the defi's wired differently ?

Yes: check that they are wired as I said above
