Lightweight but comfortable seats for a 2003STI?
I'm thinking of replacing my standard seats from my 03STI with some aftermarket replacements. That's because I'm quite slim and (for me) the standard seats don't offer much support despite being quite comfy. I also want to shed some weight from the car while I'm at it.
Can anyone suggest some lightweight seats that can be fitted into a Newage, preferably with an adaptor kit so that the original runners can be used? Recaro Pole Positions will do the job apparently, but they're pretty expensive at well over £1100 plus vat for the pair

Look at the project thread on this website where Shaun's car was upgraded. One of these was the seats and took a bit of modding to the seat rails though.

Most of the manufacturers do their own kits, and i think buddy club do generic fitting kit known as the super low which is suppose to take a lot of seats. I put a set of recaro profi spg in my car. I got recaro rails and the recaro sideplates and it all went together fine. I needed to buy a couple of nuts, but that was it. They're a bit extreme, but i love them, like yourself i'm a bit slim and found the standard seats very poor, and very bouncy. You do sit a fair bit lower too. You really need to sit in a few and try them out, i could only find buckets to try and the spg's felt spot on. The only downside is getting in and out because of the high thigh support, you tend to go in bum first and fall in. I've an 05 sti by the way.

I forgot to say, the sideplates recommended by recaro for mine only had two mounting holes at the front to alter the angle you sit at. I ended up having to drill a third as they were too laid back. I really would try and find different versions to sit in though, i took a leap of faith. There was a question mark over the base frames being able to take the seats because of the difference in width. It all worked out in the end though. I got mine from capitalseating.co.uk, very helpful. Revolution do them too i think.
