Question Help! children stolen pin that releases back seat!

Have a 2001 Impreza estate - the back seat lowers in two parts but the pin has been removed from the hole so I cannot lower the passenger side part. Still have pin but is just plastic with no screw thread or anything. Does anyone know how I can access the workings, if at all, without ripping the seat cover or anything more drastic? Or is this a job for Subaru? Really need to fix this and prefer to do it myself.

Would love some hints ...
