P1 oil temp sensor fitting advice needed ergently!
#1
Hello, just wondering if anybody could help or advise me where the temp sensor should be placed. I am having the center guage pod installed tomorrow by my local subaru dealer, but they are not keen to fit the temp sensor on the sump plug!
Where else should one fit the temp sensor?
Any suggestions welcome,
Cheers

Rupert,
I would aggree with your dealer about the fitting of sensors into your sump plug. (would be very expensive if it got knocked off & dumped your engine oil)
I would suggest that they fit it into the oil gallery blanking plug, which is situated in the cyl block, just above No.3 piston.
You can find this by removing the intercooler & looking down at the block, just underneath where your intercooler pipe meets the turbo.
The plug can be removed with an allen key and then either drilled and tapped to the correct thread, or replaced with an oil gallery adaptor as used by the oil pressure switch. (part No. 11024AA210) This adaptor will already have the correct tapperd thread.
Hope this helps
Phil.

Following on from fitting to the No 3 piston area.....
Would you advise against fitting the sender straight into the blanking plug? Would it be better to connect via a braided hose? I'm looking into this and some people warn about engine vibration damaging the sender if it is directly fitted
Cheers
