gear knob wont come off

Default gear **** wont come off

im trying to change the gear **** on my95 wrx, have twist, pulled, yanked n screamed at it but it wont budge.

ideas anyone?

If its an aftermarket one it might be secured by grubscrews. see if the bottom half only unscrews, if it does there will be 3 allen head bolts under it.

its the original gear ****, not an aftermarket so cant see any bolts.

Usually these are unscrewed forever anticlockwise then pulled off the collar, wonder if the plastic threads have gone in the gearknob?

Does it unscrew AT ALL? They are often very stiff to start with as the threads inside are plastic, as Richie says.

If it's turning, but not coming off, try unscrewing it with upwards pressure to re-start the threads.

Keep trying.

yay i got off. it was one ***** of a tight fit but luckily im mighty strong at it had to surrender to my awesome strength...it also helped twisting it in the right direction

I thought only girls "unscrewed" things the wrong way? My wife still turns the car stereo UP instead of down

me mum does that when she gets in the car, oh **** i hope i aint turning into me mum!

car feels much nicer with new lower gear **** on

Hi m8, was this a nardi torino leather gearknob? I am having the same trouble and before submitting to brute force like you I just wanted o check that I might have the same fitment. 95 WRX.

Tough little blighter aint it!

it was mighty tight but it is just down to strength and persistance
