Default removing a steering wheel

Trying to take the steering wheel of my 2001 bug - but its not having it. Taken the airbag off, undone the centre nut, tried to pull it off but its not budging

Am I missing something (other than my spinach !!) Is there something else that need undoing

Also if the ******* does ever come off and my new sti wheels goes on will the airbag just clip in and be ok- does it need re setting etc ?

Thanks

Ady

Ady, you may need to put the nut back on a fair way, and use a few hefty belts with a hammer to free the wheel, i usually sit in the seat, with my knees wedged under the wheel, with one hand pulling the top of ther wheels, whilst my other hand does the deed with the hammer..... make sure you don't hit the thread on the column.....

Assuming that the airbag is the right one for the new wheel, then simply plug it in.... although i would strongly advise doing that with the battery disconected just to be safe......
